What is managed component supply?
Managed component supply is a service where a single partner handles all sourcing, supplier relationships, quality control, documentation, and delivery for a company's repeat mechanical parts. Instead of an OEM managing 5–10 individual supplier relationships, a managed supply partner consolidates everything under one point of contact who takes full accountability for outcomes — quality, documentation, and on-time delivery.
What happens if a production batch fails quality inspection?
If a batch fails inspection, we hold it and own the resolution. The batch does not ship. We work directly with the supplier to determine root cause and either re-run the batch or find an alternative path. You are notified of the hold and the resolution plan. You do not get bounced between us and the factory — there is one point of accountability.
What is the difference between managed supply and buying direct from a manufacturer?
When buying direct from a manufacturer, your team is responsible for supplier selection, qualification, inspection coordination, documentation management, and resolving quality issues. With managed supply, we handle all of that. You manage one relationship and receive parts with documentation already included. The key distinction is accountability — we own the outcome, not just the transaction.
What documentation ships with every order?
Every production batch ships with a Certificate of Conformance, dimensional inspection report, and material certifications. These are included as standard on every order — not available on request and not charged separately. For new parts, a First Article Inspection report is completed and approved before the production run is released.
How are repeat orders different from initial orders?
After a new part completes First Article Inspection and first delivery, it enters a locked production process. The supplier is already qualified, the routing is fixed, and the First Article is approved. Repeat orders run against that locked baseline — no re-sourcing, no new supplier qualification, faster lead times. The process becomes more efficient with each repeat cycle.
Does managed supply work for companies with only a few repeat parts?
Yes. Even with a small catalog of 5–10 repeat parts, the time saved on sourcing, follow-up, documentation chasing, and requalification typically exceeds the cost of the service. We start with a single problem part if needed — the part your current supplier keeps failing on is the natural starting point.
